What do we mean by “custom labels”?
With custom labels, you decide how your label looks and performs. Consider length x width, material (paper or plastic), adhesive (permanent, removable, freezer-proof, chemical-resistant), printing (blank, 1 color, full color), and roll configuration (core, winding, diameter). This way, you get exactly what you need—for every application.
Are you looking for labels on rolls, blank labels on rolls, or printed stickers on rolls? These all fall under the category of custom labels.
How to put together your label
Example: Printed laboratory labels, specially designed to identify samples.
6 choices to find your perfect label
Size & shape
You choose the size and shape of your label: rectangular, round, oval, or a contour shape.
This may seem simple, but it determines how much information fits on it (text, barcode/QR code, logo) and how easy it is to apply the label.
TIP: Take into account rounded corners (less chance of coming loose) and the label height that your printer or applicator can handle.
Material
The material determines how strong, flexible, and durable your label is. Paper is inexpensive and ideal for dry indoor environments, while plastic is tear-resistant, moisture-resistant, and suitable for various surfaces.
TIP: Consider the finish (matte/gloss) and possibly laminate for extra scratch and chemical resistance.
Adhesive
The type of adhesive must be suitable for your substrate and your environment. Permanent adhesive sticks to cardboard, plastic, and metal, while removable adhesive can be removed without leaving any residue. A good match prevents edges from coming loose, illegible barcodes, and frustration.
TIP: Test your label on the actual surface and follow your cleaning protocol (if applicable).
Do you want to print yourself or have it printed? Blank labels on rolls are ideal if you make frequent changes (variable data, small batches). Printed stickers on rolls are useful for branding or fixed information in one color or full color.
TIP: Do you work with safety or traceability? Then we combine pre-printed elements with on-site variables (e.g., batch expiration date). This allows you to keep things fast and tidy.
Roll configuration
For roll labels, the roll construction is important for compatibility and smooth processing: the core depends on your printer or applicator, the winding determines the unwinding direction, and the maximum roll diameter is tailored to the printer holder or dispenser.
TIP: Do you already have a reel that works well? Share a photo of the core, winding, and markings—we’ll match it 1-to-1.
Environment and use
Finally, consider the conditions in which the label will be used, such as temperature, chemicals and cleaning, indoor/outdoor & UV exposure, substrate and load. By determining this in advance, we can supply labels on rolls that remain legible and adhesive throughout the entire lifespan of your product or sample.
TIP: Ask us for samples so you can test them on your application.
